Katy Richard is a Javascript and ActionScript developer for Grooveshark, the startup that’s going to change the music industry forever. She loves design (visual, user interaction, industrial, you name it) even though she isn’t particularly good at it, and has a minor obsession with office supplies, particularly of the organizing variety.
Hopelessly oblivious to anything but the code swirling in her head, she’s fascinated by the magic of the tiny things that work. An elegant piece of code, an obscure hack, the small tricks you can pull on your own brain to accomplish the seemingly impossible (whether the impossible is as inconsequential as not forgetting to take out the trash, or as huge as changing your entire lifestyle): there’s something endlessly beautiful in how the smallest thing can cause all the pieces to suddenly fall into place, forming a whole so absolute that it seems it could not have happened any other way.
She finds coding a joy, the act of taking mere text and transforming it into something visible, touchable - ultimately something that works. But her true happiness lies in learning, always seeking yet another random tidbit that causes the epiphany of a entire pattern of knowledge - a single truth.
Perhaps she hopes that one day the pattern that coalesces is THE pattern, and everything in the world will at once, fall into place. It could not have happened any other way.
